Michigan Disability

Is a disability hindering your ability to work and maintain a steady income? Disability keeps many people around the United States and Michigan from working and, consequently, from maintaining a steady income. In fact, in Michigan an estimated 1,450,000 people are currently disabled. Of those disabled, 782,000 are of working age, leaving them without the ability to work. Disability insurance helps cover many of their living expenses as they work to recover from disability. Yet, be aware that not every type of disability is always covered.

Are you interested in a Disability Insurance Policy that will help you cover living expenses should a disability keep you from work? Contact one of our Disability Insurance Professionals at Cranberry Lake Financial to help you find the Disability Insurance Policy that works for you!

Many Disability Insurance Policies Make Exclusions to What They Cover. Some Common Exclusions Include:

  • Mental Disorder
  • Nervous Disorder
  • Alcoholism
  • Drug Addiction
  • Crime
  • Act of War

When pursuing a disability insurance policy in Michigan, it is important to read the fine print. Many insurance companies have specific exclusions to their coverage policy in terms of disability. For instance, some policies include a 2 year mental or nervous system disability exclusion. Should a policy holder develop a mental disorder which keeps them from work, claims will only be paid for a maximum of 2 years.

Aside from exclusions for mental disorders, some insurers, including those in Michigan, make exemptions to disabilities caused by alcoholism, crimes or even acts of war. In the event of an attack, any injuries inflicted upon you would not be covered by this policy. Although such exemptions are considered rare, it is important to understand what is and what is not covered by your policy.
